Kindergarten–2nd Grade Christian Teacher Job Description
A Kindergarten–2nd Grade Christian Teacher is responsible for providing a Christ-centered, academically strong learning environment using the Abeka Curriculum. The teacher will instruct students in core elementary subjects while integrating biblical principles, Christian character development, and age-appropriate classroom management. The ideal candidate demonstrates a love for children, strong communication skills, spiritual maturity, and a commitment to academic excellence rooted in a biblical worldview.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Kindergarten through 2nd grade students using the Abeka curriculum and instructional materials.
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons in phonics, reading, handwriting, math, Bible, science, social studies, and language arts.
- Integrate Christian values and biblical truths into daily instruction and classroom interactions.
- Foster spiritual, academic, emotional, and social growth in students.
- Maintain a structured, organized, and nurturing classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Use effective classroom management techniques that encourage respect, responsibility, and Christ-like behavior.
- Assess student progress through quizzes, tests, observations, and report cards.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and classroom activities.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, school events, chapel services, and parent conferences.
- Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and student records.
- Collaborate with school leadership and fellow teachers to support the mission of the school.
- Encourage students to develop strong character, integrity, kindness, and a love for learning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field preferred.
- Teaching certification preferred (state or ACSI certification a plus).
- Experience teaching elementary students, preferably in a Christian school setting.
- Familiarity with the Abeka curriculum and traditional teaching methods preferred.
- Strong Christian testimony and active involvement in a local church.
- Ability to lead students spiritually and academically.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively with administration, parents, and staff.
