Job Description

Hearst, one of the nation’s largest diversified information, services and media companies , has an opportunity for an Accounting Senior Manager. This role is an integral part of the Hearst Corporation's Controllership team, supporting the finance operations of a fast paced, global business. This position is located in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review financial reports, both internal and external, providing insights and variance analyses to leadership for data-driven decision-making.
  • Manage accounting for business acquisitions and other complex transactions.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant accounting standards and internal control frameworks.
  • Define and maintain corporate financial accounting policies related to revenue recognition, credit management, intercompany activity, balance sheet reconciliations, and other financial compliance activities.
  • Collaborate closely with Group and Corporate accounting personnel to prepare initial accounting workpapers and journal entry support for complex transactions.
  • Oversee the month-end close process, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of results.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support internal and external audit activities, statutory reporting, and other regulatory compliance.
  • Manage business challenges that are broad and complex, ensuring high-quality outcomes and alignment with organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including 4 years of Big 4 experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements for complex transactions.
  • Proven experience managing month-end close processes and supporting audits in a large, diversified organization.
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
  • Oracle Cloud ERP or similar experience a plus.
