What You Bring To The Table
- 5 years of business development experience in a service-driven, B2B environment—ideally with a focus on architecture, engineering, construction, or related industries.
- Proven success engaging C-Suite leaders and key stakeholders with a consultative, trust-first approach.
- Deep knowledge of your region—you know Cleveland or Pittsburgh, and you have a strong network of industry contacts (architects, owners, developers, etc.).
- CRM-savvy with a disciplined, data-informed approach to pipeline and relationship management.
- A natural communicator—confident, articulate, and persuasive in both writing and conversation.
- A strategic thinker and self-starter who thrives on autonomy and accountability.
- Willingness to travel locally and regionally, attend events, and represent HEAPY outside of regular hours when needed.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintains clear knowledge of HEAPY Corporate Vision, Mission, and Core Values and demonstrates awareness of how those objectives relate to all position responsibilities.
- Approaches all assigned tasks as an opportunity for growth and experience.
- Understands HEAPY profitability goals and aligns sales strategies within represented markets to achieve established goals.
- Manages both existing business development pipeline and the development of new business opportunities, setting and achieving annual and monthly sales goals, including volume and growth.
- Opens doors to new and existing clients through conducting appropriate and thoughtful contact with clients, and following through on deliverables, including delivery of promotional materials, initiation of meetings, connecting clients with internal team members, etc. Understands HEAPY services and portfolio and represents them comprehensively at meetings, industry events, conferences, trade shows, and conversations with owners, architects, etc.
- Keenly identifies trends and customer needs, infusing service-minded savvy with building short, medium and long-term client objectives in alignment with projects.
- Coordinates/tracks with business partners (PMs, Marketing, etc.) the delivery of HEAPY services to ensure clients' needs are satisfied in accordance with project scope.
- Monitors and evaluates industry trends and customer drivers and meets regularly with management and stakeholders to discuss strategy.
- Takes a lead role in the development of proposals and presentations to nurture business opportunities and partnerships.
- Manages proposal response process, including detailed RFP requirements, content creation, and inputs from various sources.
- Works closely with Marketing team members to develop new business materials to support business development efforts, and maintain client contact (surveys, etc.).
- Maintains and shares professional knowledge through education, networking, events, and presentations.
- Coordinates strategies and activities with National Director of Business Development /HEAPY Business Development team members/Practice Directors/CSO.
- Manage and maintain DELTEK Capture plan in cooperation with Practice Directors and National Director of Business Development to create strategies and action items to win client work and foster long-term relationships that create a consistent stream of projects.
- Enters all information in an accurate and timely manner into DELTEK system, leveraging system to coordinate and develop strategies with Business Development team members and National Director of Business Development.
- Appropriately identifies opportunities to cross/upsell HEAPY services to clients; coordinates activities with Business Development team members to ensure seamless partnership and execution of goals.
- Represents the HEAPY culture and maintains colleague morale and interacts appropriately with client counterparts.
- Participates actively in the client feedback process and maintains a leadership role in understanding client comments, positively engaging with the client when opportunities to improve HEAPY performance and services are identified.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to be sedentary at desk for periods of time while operating a keyboard, stylus and/or mouse and using a computer screen.
- Ability to accommodate in-person appointments/travel in schedule with limited notice
- Possession of Reliable transportation to and from appointments/clients/activities.
- Ability to communicate in person, in writing and via phone with other individuals.
- Ability to rapidly assess incoming information from a variety of resources and respond quickly and appropriately in verbal interactions.
- Ability to work in all elements of indoor and outdoor environments which include the heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, etc.
- Ability to access all areas of the jobsite with activities that include ascending and descending stairs, scaffolding, ladders, navigating elevation changes, etc.
- Capable of working in physical positions that may include maneuvering self into different positions traditionally is achieved by kneeling, sitting, standing, squatting, bending over, etc.
- Ability to move, transport, or position items weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to follow safety guidelines for both company and clients.
- Ability to gather, organize and evaluate information related to client opportunities and needs (such as market analysis, budgets, finances, etc.).
