Summary
This colleague independently performs a variety of assignments related primarily to Facility Optimization, Energy Assessment, Energy Studies, Energy Conservation, along with some potential Commissioning/Validation projects. While having independent responsibility for all or portions of projects, this position fosters a collaborative approach to all activities and works effectively with other practice colleagues.
Qualifications
This position normally requires a 4-year in Engineering, Energy Management or Environmental Science or a related field, and/or equivalent experience. This position requires 5 years of prior relevant experience in energy engineering, energy management, building systems and utility programs with customer relationship management. This position requires understanding of Retro-Commissioning, energy audits, and building systems. Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMV), Project Management Professional (PMP), PE or FE credentials are a plus.
Duties & Responsibilities
Ability to remain sedentary at desk for long periods of time while operating a keyboard and using a computer screen. Ability to communicate in person, electronically and via phone with other individuals. Possession of reliable transportation to and from the project. Ability to work in all elements of indoor and outdoor environments which include the heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, etc. Ability to access all areas of the jobsite with activities that include ascending and descending stairs, scaffolding, ladders, navigating elevation changes, etc. Capable of working in physical positions that may include maneuvering self into different positions traditionally is achieved by kneeling, sitting, standing, squatting, bending over, etc. Ability to move, transport, or position items weighing up to 25 lbs. Ability to apply established protocols and practices in a timely manner. Ability to gather, organize and evaluate information related to projects and calculations (such as energy calculations, percentages, numerical reasoning, etc.). Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintains clear knowledge of HEAPY Corporate Vision, Mission, and Core Values and demonstrates awareness of how those objectives relate to all position responsibilities.
- Approaches all assigned tasks as an opportunity for growth and experience, modeling the way for other team members.
- Continually advances technical education and personal development aligned with goals, leveraging senior leadership expertise to guide and support colleagues and mentees in achieving their development objectives.
- Mentors colleagues and supports the OKRI process at the request of the Operations Manager or Practice Technical Leader.
- Collaborates with engineering colleagues to perform onsite validation and review of equipment and controls to identify proper operation and/or opportunities to improve performance.
- Collaborates with engineering colleagues to prepare and review energy calculations, utility rate structures, testing procedures, plans, or reports involving HVAC, lighting, standby power, and other energy-consuming or producing equipment, components, or systems.
- Performs detailed energy studies including audits and analysis of existing and new building systems (HVAC, lighting, envelope, etc.).
- Leverages MEP system knowledge to identify and quantify energy conservation measures (ECMs), working with design teams to recommend efficiency improvements.
- Reviews and provides feedback on energy models that simulate building performance and support LEED, utility incentives, or code compliance.
- Lead clients’ engagements by translating technical findings into meaningful recommendations, project scopes, and business cases.
- Prepares clear, visually compelling reports and presentations for internal teams, owners, and decision-makers.
- Collaborates with engineering colleagues to verify that owners' project requirements are met.
- Stays informed of evolving energy codes, policies, incentives, and technologies to keep our clients ahead of the curve.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
