Emergency Medicine Physician

HealthYes Staffing Network is recruiting an Emergency Medicine Physician for a permanent opportunity with a community-focused hospital in Northern Maine. This opening combines the clinical variety of a 24-hour emergency department with scheduling flexibility and the support physicians need to build a sustainable long-term practice.

The emergency department treats approximately 16,000 patients annually. Physicians work alongside experienced emergency nurses and advanced practice providers, with APPs helping manage lower-acuity visits. The patient population includes a meaningful number of older adults, and common presentations include cardiac and respiratory concerns. Patients requiring services beyond the hospital’s scope are stabilized and transferred to regional tertiary centers.

·         Full-time, part-time, and per-diem scheduling options

·         Physician-influenced scheduling built around 12-hour shifts

·         A common full-time pattern of three shifts one week and four the next

·         24-hour emergency department with more than 10 exam rooms and a dedicated trauma room

·         More than 10,000 emergency visits annually

·         Advanced practice provider support for lower-acuity cases

·         Broad emergency medicine exposure within a close-knit rural hospital setting

·         Established protocols for stabilizing and transferring complex trauma, cardiac, neurosurgical, and behavioral-health cases

Candidate profile:

HealthYes welcomes applications from physicians who are:

·         MD or DO trained

·         Board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine

·         Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine with substantial emergency-department experience

·         Eligible for an unrestricted Maine medical license

·         Comfortable evaluating and stabilizing a broad range of adult and pediatric emergencies

·         Prepared to collaborate with nurses, advanced practice providers, emergency medical services, and receiving facilities

Practicing physicians, residents, fellows, military-trained physicians, and international medical graduates who completed a U.S. residency or fellowship may be considered. H-1B and J-1 candidates are welcome to inquire.

Compensation and support:

·         Hospital-employed position

·         Hourly compensation negotiated according to experience
