Position Summary
The Assistant Plant Operations Manager will work directly with the Plant Operations Manager to oversee and execute daily manufacturing activities. This well-rounded role requires a unique mix of production planning, team management, workflow optimization, and technical hands-on capability. The ideal candidate will be ready to lead from the front lines, resolve operational challenges, and step up to manage full facility operations in the Manager’s absence.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily Operations Management: Assist the Manager in overseeing all aspects of daily facility operations, including production execution, full-chain quality control, cost monitoring, delivery scheduling, workflow optimization, workplace safety, and environmental compliance.
- Operational Continuity: Assume full responsibility for plant management, operational decision-making, and supervisory oversight during the Plant Manager's absence.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate across production, maintenance, logistics, and personnel teams to ensure seamless workflows and minimize production downtime.
- Process Supervision: Monitor production lines closely to enforce safety protocols, strict quality standards, and compliance measures.
- Production Planning: Assist in drafting, refining, and optimizing short- and long-term production schedules to maximize efficiency.
- Equipment & Maintenance Oversight: Participate in equipment maintenance schedules and troubleshooting to ensure all machinery and tools remain fully functional.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify inefficiencies, waste, or bottlenecks in production workflows to implement cost-reduction and efficiency-enhancement initiatives.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Use office software proficiently to collect operational metrics, analyze performance data, and generate reports for strategic planning.
- Technical Support (Plus): Operate forklifts or trucks and assist with basic mechanical/electrical troubleshooting when needed to maintain workflow momentum.
- General Duties: Complete other operational and leadership tasks as requested by upper management.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 2 to 3 years of proven management or supervisory experience in production operations, warehousing, or logistics. Prior experience leading a team of 10 employees is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of mechanical equipment principles. Hands-on experience in machinery operation, preventative maintenance, or electrical troubleshooting is a strong asset.
- Work Ethic: Adaptable to a fast-paced plant environment, resilient, energetic, and possessing exceptional execution and follow-through.
- Communication: Outstanding interpersonal, coordination, and leadership skills. Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Scheduling Flexibility: Open and fully available to work flexible hours under a shift rotation system.
- Problem Solving: Excellent crisis-management abilities with a proven track record of handling workplace emergencies independently.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in both English and Chinese (Mandarin) across speaking, reading, and writing is required. Conversational Spanish proficiency is a highly regarded plus.
- Work Authorization: Valid and lawful legal status to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship. Clear background record.
