Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for endoscopy procedures, including pre-procedure assessment, consent, and documentation
- Assist during GI procedures with scope handling, suction, and coordination of equipment
- Monitor patients during sedation/anesthesia, manage IV access, and track vital signs
- Support post-procedure recovery, provide discharge instructions, and monitor for complications
- Maintain sterile technique, infection control, and proper equipment sterilization; document care in the EMR
- Collaborate with anesthesia and perioperative teams; participate in on-call and weekend coverage as scheduled
Requirements
- BLS and ACLS required
- NIH Stroke Certification required before start
- Endoscopy nursing experience required; minimum 2 years
- 8 hours of CEUs required as part of orientation
- Flexible scheduling ability for a Mon–Fri pattern with 9:00 AM–7:30 PM flex days; alternating 4x10s to 5x8s not to exceed 5 days
- On-call: 6 shifts per month and 1–2 weekend shifts per month
