Responsibilities

• Prepare instruments, equipment, and supplies for adult cardiac procedures; assist the surgical team from the scrub position during operations
• Maintain sterile technique, ensure accurate surgical counts, and safely handle solutions and pharmacologic agents under RN direction
• Scrub and circulate during cardiac surgeries (e.g., CABG, TAVI) and assist with room turnover between cases
• Manage instrument and supply turnover, safe handling of sharps, and equipment readiness throughout the case
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to support patient safety and procedural flow; respond to unit needs and assist with documentation as appropriate
• Support on-call coverage and unit needs per operational requirements
  
  

Requirements

• NY State Surgical Technologist license required
• NBSTSA certification or 10 years of experience as a Surgical Technician
• Two (2) years or recent experience in a cardiac OR
• Able to scrub and circulate
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Operating room experience in a level 1 trauma setting is highly desired
