Position Summary

The Campus Dean, BSN Program, is responsible for the on-site supervision, development, planning, coordination, organization, implementation, and evaluation of all nursing program activities. The Dean plans, develops, manages, updates, and evaluates all aspects of the program including but not limited to:

  • RN program budget
  • Faculty and staff oversight
  • Clinical site liaison activities
  • Curriculum development and implementation
  • Program compliance with Board rules and regulations, including site visits
  • Student advocacy
  • Program policies and procedures
  • Faculty and student handbooks
  • Supplies and equipment required to meet program objectives


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare data and written materials for all required state and Board documents (reports, proposals, self-studies, surveys, and site visits).
  • Ensure that all student and faculty records are accurately maintained; coordinate with Human Resources to keep documentation of faculty and staff qualifications current.
  • Identify and obtain outside resources for the nursing program.
  • Develop and implement program policies and procedures.
  • Organize and serve on program committees.
  • Oversee the student admission process and orientation.
  • Write and maintain articulation agreements with nearby colleges to support transfer pathways.
  • Serve as a liaison between the community and the college.
  • Develop and maintain educational partnerships and contracts with clinical sites.
  • Conduct or delegate clinical site evaluations to ensure safety, risk management, and compliance with course objectives.
  • Meet with clinical faculty and site representatives to review rotation details and complete Board approval forms as required.
  • Evaluate clinical rotations through feedback from students, faculty, and clinical partners; summarize and share results with leadership and advisory committees.
  • Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and orientation of nursing faculty.
  • Conduct regular nursing faculty meetings and ensure accurate documentation of minutes.
  • Manage faculty and student conflict resolution and grievance processes.
  • Build and maintain strong community and professional relationships to promote the nursing program.
  • Monitor instructional quality and participate in strategic planning, program evaluations, and accreditation reviews.
  • Maintain membership and involvement in professional associations.
  • Collaborate with other college departments such as counseling, registration, and financial aid.
  • Provide student advising and academic support as needed.
  • Ensure proper student orientation to labs and clinical sites before clinical rotations.
  • Manage student appeals per institutional policy.
  • Participate in student recruitment and admissions review.
  • Verify that all students meet graduation and licensure requirements.
  • Conduct Nursing Advisory Committee meetings and track program outcomes (NCLEX pass rates, job placement metrics).


Qualifications

  • Current RN license in the state where the campus is located.
  • Master’s or higher degree from an accredited institution including coursework in nursing, education, or administration.
  • Minimum two years of experience in an administrative position.
  • Minimum two years of teaching experience in pre- or post-licensure nursing programs.
  • Minimum two years of direct patient care experience (or equivalent as determined by the Board).
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to diversity as defined by state law.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and institutions.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented leadership style.
  • Proficiency with computer-based tools and resources.
  • Experience with supervision, planning, and budget management.


Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range: $140,000 – $155,000 annually
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment
  • Two weeks of vacation per year (increasing with tenure)
