About the Role:
The Sterilization Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of infection control and safety. You will be responsible for sterilizing and maintaining dental instruments and equipment, managing inventory, maintaining records, and supporting the dental team with basic clinical and clerical duties. Occasional chairside assisting may also be required.
Key Responsibilities:
Sterilize, decontaminate, and maintain dental instruments and equipment per CDC, OSHA, and Joint Commission standards.
Perform biological spore testing, monitor autoclave functioning, and maintain detailed sterilization and maintenance logs.
Manage inventory of instruments, supplies, and sterilization materials.
Assist in setting up and breaking down operatories.
Support infection control practices and provide assistance at primary and satellite dental sites.
Uphold confidentiality and protect client health information in compliance with HIPAA.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED (required)
Current BLS Certification (required)
At least one (1) year of experience in a dental setting (required)
Maryland X-ray license (preferred)
Experience in a community health center (preferred)
