Radiation Therapist

Role Overview: The Radiation Therapist administers ionizing radiation for therapeutic purposes, following the Radiation Oncologist’s prescription. Key responsibilities include patient simulation, treatment planning, equipment assessment, and basic patient care and education.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and implement treatment plans, document procedures, and perform simulation processes.
• Prepare immobilization devices, obtain measurements, and assist with dosimetry.
• Perform daily equipment checks, warm-up, and quality assurance.
• Support clinical training of student therapists.
• Communicate effectively with patients and clinical staff.
• Provide patient care during treatment, monitor progress, and assist with patient education.
• Manage scheduling, treatment delivery, and billing documentation.
  
  

Qualifications & Skills

• Radiology Tech License (if applicable) and ARRT Radiation Therapy certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Radiation Therapy from an accredited institution.
• Strong clinical, communication, decision-making, and empathetic skills.
• Manual dexterity, physical ability to assist with patient transfers, and ability to operate complex equipment.
• Ability to interact with patients and team members effectively, often in busy or emergency settings.
