A Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible for performing routine and moderately complex laboratory tests across diagnostic areas such as chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, and toxicology. The role involves analyzing specimens, ensuring test accuracy, maintaining equipment, and following regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing diagnostic tests and preparing specimens
- Ensuring quality control and accurate test results
- Operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining laboratory instruments
- Communicating results clearly to healthcare professionals
- Adhering to safety, infection control, and regulatory guidelines
- Managing inventory and lab supplies
- Supporting investigations of transfusion reactions
- Documenting test data and maintaining records
- Minimum one year of recent MLT experience
- Valid license as per state regulations
- Preferred certifications: ASCP or equivalent, BLS
- Critical thinking, strong communication, and interpersonal skills
- Physical ability to handle equipment and specimens
- Proficiency in PC use and following instructions
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in team settings
- Attention to detail and visual acuity
