Duties
- Prepare, dispense, and review medications accurately for diverse patient populations across various hospital departments, including ICU, PICU, emergency rooms, and trauma centers.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to develop and adjust medication therapy plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Monitor patient responses to medications, assess potential drug interactions, and implement appropriate interventions to optimize therapeutic outcomes.
- Manage IV infusions and aseptic techniques with precision to ensure sterile preparation and safe administration of medications.
- Educate patients and healthcare staff on medication usage, potential side effects, and safety protocols related to pharmacotherapy.
- Maintain meticulous documentation of medication orders, patient assessments, and clinical interventions in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Stay current with advances in pharmacology, physiology knowledge, and clinical pharmacy practices to enhance patient care quality.
Requirements
- Valid pharmacist license in good standing with relevant licensing boards.
- Proven experience in hospital pharmacy settings, including Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers.
- Strong background in critical care environments such as ICU or emergency room experience.
- Knowledge of managed care principles and experience with pharmacy residency programs or post-residency clinical pharmacy practice.
- Familiarity with physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, pain management—including acute pain management—and medication administration protocols.
- Demonstrated ability to perform patient assessments effectively within acute care or hospital medicine contexts.
- Expertise in aseptic technique for IV infusion preparation and sterile compounding processes.
- Excellent communication skills for clear patient service delivery and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Additional qualifications such as pediatrics experience or advanced training in trauma or critical care are highly desirable.
