Position Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is impossible to recruit qualified citizens, in accordance with VA policy.
- Education: A Doctor of Medicine degree or an equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine is required.
- Licensure: Candidates must possess a current, complete, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state, territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Residency: Completion of a residency program in an accredited core specialty.
- Board Certification: Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in sleep medicine.
- Completion of an accredited fellowship in Sleep Medicine
- Board Certified in Sleep Medicine
- Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, and regular salary increases.
- Sign-on Bonus-Authorized
- Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (including 26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays, and a possible five-day paid absence for CME).
- Retirement: Traditional federal pension (vesting after 5 years) and federal 401(k) with up to 5% contributions by VA.
- Insurance: Federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long-term care insurance (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement).
- Licensure: One full and unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory.
- CME: Possible reimbursement of $2,500 per year (must be full-time with board certification).
- Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided.
- Contract: No physician employment contract and no significant restrictions on moonlighting.
