Position Overview
The role involves performing a variety of complex surgical procedures while collaborating closely with general dentists and clinical staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Perform Surgical Procedures Including But Not Limited To
- Wisdom tooth extractions
- Dental implant placement
- Bone grafting
- Surgical tooth extractions
- Treatment of oral pathology
- Management of facial trauma (when applicable)
- Conduct patient consultations and comprehensive evaluations
- Develop and explain personalized surgical treatment plans
- Administer anesthesia and monitor patients throughout procedures
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
- Provide post-operative care instructions and follow-up evaluations
- High level of comfort with autonomy and, practicing within your scope of practice.
Candidates must meet the following educational requirements:
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an accredited dental school
- Completion of an accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program (4–6 years)
- Advanced training in anesthesia and surgical procedures
- Active North Carolina Dental License or eligibility for licensure
- Board certification or board eligibility in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery preferred
- Minimum 2–3 years of clinical experience in oral surgery (preferred)
- Proficiency in dental implant placement and surgical extractions
- Strong diagnostic and treatment planning skills
- Experience with IV sedation or general anesthesia preferred
