Duties Description
The Nursing Assistant 1 is an entry-level position that under direct clinical supervision provides direct patient care and assists with activities of daily living (ADLs). Primary duties include monitoring vital signs, performing medical support tasks, observing patients’ physical/mental/emotional conditions, reporting changes to supervising nursing staff, and documenting health records. The role also involves providing comfort and reassurance to patients and families to foster a supportive care environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of or ability to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities during the probationary period.
Preferred Qualifications: If you have a desire to serve our veterans and their dependents, and are a compassionate person who would like to work with the elderly, we are offering a paid Nurse Aide Training Program on-site at our facility in Oxford. Get paid while you train, and upon successful completion of the class and state examination, full-time employment opportunities are available at the New York State Veterans Home at Oxford as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), SG-8
Additional Comments
After acceptance into our Nurse Aide Training Program, you will take a 5–6 week class at our facility and be paid while training. You will receive classroom and clinical instruction to help you pass the Prometric New York State Exam. Upon successful completion, you will be eligible to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) SG-8.
