- Performing optical and opto-mechanical simulations to evaluate system performance and inform design trade-offs.
- Developing optical alignment procedures and performance testing equipment.
- Contributing to the conceptual design of next-generation opto-mechanical systems.
- Managing external optical consultants, providing technical guidance and review.
- Conducting tolerancing and sensitivity analyses considering fabrication tolerances.
- Collaborating with vendors for fabrication and verification of high-precision optical parts.
- Generating intellectual property and working with legal teams on patent documentation.
- Partnering with quality teams to ensure compliance with automotive and industrial standards.
- Strong optics foundation with experience in multi-element lens systems and semiconductor lasers.
- Proficiency in Zemax (sequential and non-sequential), Python, and Matlab for design and analysis.
- Hands-on experience with optical lab equipment for testing and validation.
- Ability to manage external vendors and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
- Preferred experience with STOP analysis, athermal design, SolidWorks, and ANSYS Mechanical.
- Background in developing optical systems for high-volume production is advantageous.
