Design and implement a weekly lesson plan that aligns with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework, Worcester Public School Scope & Sequence, 2nd Step Scope & Sequence, and individualizes specific skills and interests of the children. Plan and implement purposeful small group differentiated instruction which includes language/literacy, math, science and social studies. Submit lesson plan and newsletters to Pedagogista no later than 3:00 pm on Wednesday before the following week. Include all classroom staff’s participation and the implementation of lesson plan/classroom activities. Maintain classroom environment that is safe, clean, welcoming and reflective of children’s achievements. Classroom observations conducted by Center Coordinator reflect CLASS scores that meet or exceed the national median domain scores Ensure that learning centers are prepared with purposeful and differentiated activities before the children's daily arrival. All classroom centers are open and ready for children to use by 9:00 am. Be aware of all aspects of a child's mental, nutritional and physical health through the following: Promote oral hygiene by assisting children with tooth-brushing. Assist children with toileting when necessary. Promote self-help skills including serving meals in a family style setting. Work cooperatively with teaching assistant, classroom aide, volunteers and parents. Prepare classroom cooperatively with teaching assistant, including arranging and labeling furniture and materials, and maintaining postings in accordance with program guidelines. Date children’s work that is displayed in the classroom and replace monthly or as needed if documentation is ongoing. Ensure that all classroom sign in/out forms are accurately maintained. Communicate between home and school through written correspondence, email, home visits, parent conferences and phone calls. Copies of all communication to be kept in the child’s education folder. Once issued, maintain active and current Worcester Public Schools email account. Any change of password must be noted on email form kept in the Center Coordinator’s office. Recognize individual needs and interests of children and reflect those on lesson plans. Support all children in a sensitive, positive and consistent manner. Actively engage and supervise children during activity periods inside and outside of the classroom, including during transitions, at the gym, playground, STEAM rooms, bathrooms, etc. Submit a classroom floor plan to the Center Coordinator at the beginning of each school year and when room arrangement is changed during the year. Submit a classroom inventory to the Center Coordinator at the beginning and end of each year. Meet the a.m. bus upon arrival and greet/welcome the children and families as they enter the classroom. Ensure that children are accounted for when leaving the classroom and that children have safely boarded the bus upon departure. Attend all meetings as required, including staff meetings, team meetings, center meetings and Special Education and Support Services meetings. Participate in on-going communication between disciplines relative to the needs of the children. Effectively utilize Head Start curriculum and center resources in planning for children. Complete observations for each child to be reflected on assessment tool, in a timely manner (for each assessment cycle ¼ of indicators documented in first 2 weeks, ½ of indicators documented within 4 weeks ¾ of indicators documented within 6 weeks, all indicators documented by the end of assessment cycle.) File and maintain observations in an organized and orderly fashion (to be done each week). Complete assessment and outcome measures by end of November, February, and May. Complete two home visits per child per year and a minimum of two parent conferences per child per year, and complete necessary documentation. Maintain accurate professional and up-to-date documentation on each child and ensure that it is placed in his/her file. At the end of school year, clean furniture and materials used during the year. When required to perform bus monitor duties, adhere to responsibilities of bus monitor job description (training for all new staff required). Participate as directed by Center Coordinator, or other supervisor, as part of a crisis team in "Fire Drill/ Evacuation Plan" or as part of any other support position. Maintain current PQ registry in the EEC website.
