Heavy Machinery Mechanic Apprentice
Head Inc. is a general contractor that specializes in concrete and asphalt paving on airfields. Since its inception, we have been involved in public works projects. Our work experience includes projects for the Department of Energy, the Navy, the Corps of Engineers and various municipalities as well as private industry.
Essential Role:
This position is responsible for learning to assess, adjust, and repair mobile or other equipment such as heavy-duty operating, Hydraulics, diesels, and small engine equipment used in construction and other tasks needed in the shop.
Responsibilities:
- Shadow and assist experienced technicians, learning fundamental repair, inspections and maintenance techniques on heavy duty equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment per manufactures recommendations
- Cleans, lubricates, and completes other routine maintenance tasks on equipment and mobile vehicles
- Maintains weekly and monthly paperwork on all hours, miles and daily checks of equipment
- Learn to repair Concrete/Asphalt Plants
- Perform pre-delivery inspections on vehicles or equipment to ensure readiness.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring proper tool care and safety procedures.
- Participate in training programs and workshops to develop knowledge of diesel systems, diagnostics, and repair procedures.
Requirements, knowledge, skills:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Requires the ability to comply with all safety policies and procedures; communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure projects are completed properly
- Possess a strong work ethic and reliability
- Requires good manual dexterity; may be standing, bending kneeling or sitting for long periods
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and back ground screening, to access military bases
- Welding knowledge/certificate a plus
- Ability to travel to jobsites when needed
- Must have reliable transportation
- HS Diploma or GED
- Must be at least 18 years old

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
