Primary Responsibilities
Primary duties of HDR’s Traffic Engineer include: working collaboratively as part of a traffic operations team on a variety of traffic analysis needs; performing traffic analysis consisting of operational analyses using a variety of modeling tools ranging from Synchro and the Highway Capacity Software (HCS), to complex micro simulation models like VISSIM to analyze traffic scenarios including signalized intersections, roundabouts, urban arterials and freeway segments; developing scripts to automate large traffic data source analysis and PTV VISSIM/VISUM traffic forecast and simulation processes; analyzing traffic count and toll transaction data and preparing data visualization to support decision-making and discussion of maintenance of traffic (MOT) design and toll algorithm; taking travel demand model output and post-processing for input to traffic operational models; developing and delivering traffic analysis reports for evaluating roadway capacity, operational analyses, and signal warrant analyses; planning, organizing, supervising, and checking the work of staff professionals and technicians; and functioning as a technical specialist, task lead, or project manager, as needed.

Required Qualifications
- A Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a closely related engineering field and 3 years of experience in traffic engineering or a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a closely related engineering field and 5 years of experience in traffic engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure (from any US jurisdiction).
- Required experience must include experience in: traffic analysis and modeling, data analysis including volume forecasting, developing script to automate traffic forecasting and simulation, Advanced GIS mapping; ArcGIS, Power BI, VISSUM, Visum, CUBE, HCS, Synchro, and Sidra.
