Position Description

To provide leadership and management for the emergency department in partnership with the Emergency Department (ED) nursing manager.
To work cooperatively and supportively with the members of the medical staff to provide emergency services for all patients who present to the emergency department.
To work cooperatively and supportively with the other clinical and non-clinical departments to ensure availability, quality, and effective use of services.
To monitor community needs and provide significant input into the EMS system and disaster planning.
Assist the Medical Director in quality improvement projects.
Provide 12 hour shift coverage in a community hospital ED setting. Treat patients to ensure proper injury care and disease diagnosis, request necessary tests and follow-up visits. As necessary, stabilize patient and coordinate the transportation of patient to tertiary care centers. Coordinate admissions into the hospital.

Cover 3, 12 hours shifts per week. The shifts are on a rotating basis with 50% day shifts and 50% night shifts.
