Medical Billing Specialist / AR Specialist Odenton MD

We are a specialty surgery practice seeking an experienced Medical Biller / AR Specialist to join our team full-time in Odenton MD. This is a hands-on, in-office role ideal for someone with private practice experience who can step in and contribute immediately. This is an in-office position with no remote work, so the incoming candidate must be willing to work full time in our office in Odenton. Must have experience working directly for a private practice, not a hospital or billing company, doing billing, coding, charge entry, and AR work only.

Duties:

• Handle billing, coding, charge entry, and A/R follow-up
• Submit and track insurance authorizations & pre-certifications
• Follow up on outstanding claims, denials, and appeals
• Analyze EOBs for underpayments and zero-pay claims
• Work directly with insurance companies and patient accounts
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
• Assign ICD-10 & CPT codes based on documentation
• Reduce aged A/R and improve collections
• Collaborate with clinical and front office teams
  
  

Requirements:

• Required: Experience working in a private medical practice (not hospital or billing company)
• Strong background in A/R, billing, coding, and charge entry
• Knowledge of insurance guidelines (commercial government)
• Highly detail-oriented, organized, and proactive
• Able to manage multiple tasks independently
  
  

Schedule:

• Full-time, Monday–Friday
• In-office only (Odenton, MD) – no remote
