We are seeking a detail-oriented Custom Order Engineer to support the design, configuration, and release of custom switchboard and panelboard orders for the U.S. market. This role is responsible for interpreting customer requirements, developing engineering documentation, creating bills of materials, supporting manufacturing, and ensuring compliance with applicable standards such as UL 891, UL 67, and NEC. cross-functionally with sales, manufacturing, quality, and global engineering teams.
Key Responsibilitie
- sReview customer specifications, drawings, one-line diagrams, and order requirements to determine technical feasibility and manufacturability
- .Create, configure, and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) for custom switchboard and panelboard orders
- .Develop and modify engineering and manufacturing documents, including layout drawings, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, interconnect drawings, approval packages, and product-specific data sheets
- .Use CAD tools such as AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor to create 2D and 3D designs for custom electrical assemblies and fabricated components
- .Select and configure components to ensure proper electrical distribution, performance, and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements
- .Apply relevant codes and standards including UL 891, UL 67, and the National Electrical Code (NEC) in the design and release process
- .Support production teams during assembly, wiring, testing, and issue resolution to ensure designs are accurately executed on the shop floor
- .Collaborate with sales and quotation teams to provide accurate technical inputs, scope clarification, and documentation for customer proposals
- .Coordinate with cross-functional and global teams, including engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and plant operations in the United States and India
- .Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for design, documentation, and production issues; track metrics to reduce recurring problems
- .Contribute to standardization initiatives, engineering templates, and continuous improvement efforts to reduce manual effort and improve cycle time
- .Support automation or process-improvement initiatives using tools such as VBA, ERP/MRP systems, and design standardization methods where applicable
.Required Qualification
- sBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field
- .3 years of engineering experience in switchboards, panelboards, switchgear, low-voltage power distribution, or custom electrical product design
- .Hands-on experience creating BOMs, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and manufacturing documentation
- .Working knowledge of UL 891, UL 67, NEC, and related electrical product standards and design practices
- .Proficiency in AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, or similar CAD/3D modeling tools
- .Ability to interpret customer specifications, electrical drawings, and manufacturing requirements
- .Experience working in a manufacturing or production-support environment
- .Strong communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- .Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
