What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Care Technician Per-Diem Variable Shifts position at HCH brand?
Responsibilities: The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is responsible for providing a wide variety of patient care activities and comfort measures for assigned patients and assists in nursing procedures, under the delegation of the Registered Nurse (or Licensed Practical Nurse in Medical Practices) while adhering to nursing, safety and infection control policies. Accepts direction from both Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses and works together with the RN/LPN when caring for patients. The PCT provides direct care for the patients as assigned, answers call lights, performs courier and transporter functions, acts as a unit clerk as needed, and collects data through a variety of means including observation and through the use of instrumentation (i.e. blood pressure machine or glucometer) for all age group of patients. The PCT will adhere to the policies and procedures of Henry County Hospital.
Qualifications: BLS trained or successful completion of BLS course within 3 months of hire required. Currently enrolled in a professional school of nursing or completion of an STNA program required. Completion of two clinical nursing courses (at least one foundation of nursing course and one medical-surgical course) preferred. Minimum of one year of clinical experience also preferred.
