What are the responsibilities and job description for the Motor Assembler position at HBD Industries?
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Motor Assembler to join our team. In this role, you will assemble electric motors and sub‑assemblies using work instructions, engineering prints, and other manufacturing documents to ensure high-quality production and on‑time delivery. You will also operate specialty equipment, perform wiring according to electrical specifications, and complete coating and painting tasks. Occasional repair work on existing motors may also be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble motor components based on manufacturing documents and specifications
- Prepare, terminate, and secure electrical leads per electrical requirements
- Magnetize rotor assemblies using specialized magnetizing equipment
- Assemble and balance rotor assemblies to precise standards
- Paint and coat parts, sub‑assemblies, and completed motors
- Communicate schedule updates, issues, and questions to the manager/supervisor in a timely manner
Experience and Education:
- High School diploma required
- Minimum of 3 years of electric motor assembly experience
- Experience in machining, painting, electrical wiring, and electrical testing is highly desirable
Technical and Physical Requirements:
- Ability to calculate fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions for use in assembly processes
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents
- Strong fine motor skills and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to operate lifting devices including overhead gantry cranes and material-handling equipment
- Ability to use measurement devices to verify dimensional accuracy
- Ability to lift 25 lbs frequently and 50 lbs occasionally
