Position Summary
Precision Metal Products is currently looking for an Engineering Intern to join their team. The Engineering Intern will support manufacturing improvement initiatives focused on Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Standard Work development, and Lean Manufacturing. This position will work closely with Engineering and Maintenance to collect process data, develop visual documentation, and implement best practices that support operational efficiency, reliability, and safety.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the development of Standard Work and maintenance checklists as part of autonomous maintenance initiatives.
- Assist in the implementation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) processes across key equipment areas.
- Collect and analyze production and maintenance data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Document procedures, create visual aids, and standardize processes for repeatability and clarity.
- Participate in problem-solving activities using Lean and root-cause analysis tools.
- Ensure all tasks are completed with a strong focus on safety and quality.
- Demonstrate collaboration, professionalism, and continuous improvement mindset in all work activities.
Experience and Education
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Previous exposure to a manufacturing or machining environment preferred but not required.
- Understanding of manufacturing and machining processes.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong data collection, organization, and analytical skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities.
- High attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Commitment to safety awareness and adherence to safe work practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
