Position Summary
The Private Investments Analyst / Associate is responsible for assisting the private investment team in manager research, portfolio monitoring, firmwide communications, and administration of the HB Wealth Investment Platform. The Analyst / Associate will focus on private equity, growth equity, venture capital, private credit, opportunistic investments, special situations, infrastructure, and other nontraditional private investment strategies.
Job Responsibilities
- Manager Research: Assist the private investment team in conducting due diligence on potential new fund manager relationships and in presenting recommendations to the Investment Committee.
- investment Operations and Reporting: Manage document and capital workflows to ensure appropriate administration of all private investments. Assist Wealth Advisors in producing quarterly client reports related to clients’ private investments. Work with Wealth Advisors and the HB Wealth marketing team to develop appropriate private investment materials for client prospect meetings.
- Investment & Database Monitoring: In collaboration with the private investment team, track and monitor investment performance on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Maintain the firm’s private investment database to ensure all necessary data is captured, analyzed, and reported.
- Firm/Client Resource: Serve as a private investment resource to the broader HB Wealth staff and where needed, assist Wealth Advisors in implementing a diversified mix of private investments into their clients’ overall investment portfolio. Work to understand the firm-wide client demand for specific private investments.
- Operational Excellence: Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure the effective operation and governance of the HB Wealth private investment platform. Assist in the development of an overall strategy and business plan for the firm’s private investments.
- Sourcing: Assist in the development and maintenance of relationships with LPs, GPs, and other intermediaries.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (required).
- 1-5 years of experience with private investments.
- CFA charter (or progress toward the charter) and/or CAIA charter preferred.
- Passion for research and private investment manager due diligence.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and ability to take meticulous notes.
- Understanding of private portfolio construction, risk, liquidity, and mechanics of investing in private markets.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Self-starter with initiative and exceptional attention to detail who can balance multiple projects and demands in a fast-paced, dynamic, and entrepreneurial environment.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment and a willingness to pitch in where needed.
- Client-first attitude, professional demeanor, personal integrity, and an understanding of fiduciary responsibility.
- Demonstrated knowledge of various securities markets, including private equity and private credit.
- Willingness to travel.
- Ability to successfully pass criminal background / credit check required.
This is not a remote position. Candidates should expect to be in an HB office 3 days per week. Candidates should be local or willing to relocate to the Baltimore-Washington metro area, Atlanta, Tampa, or Palm Beach.
