Experience
- 2 years of experience performing municipal combination inspection services for residential, commercial, or industrial properties.
- 1 year of experience performing building plan review for a public agency.
- 1 year of progressively responsible experience in architecture, structural or engineering design, drafting, or construction related to code compliance.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field is highly desirable.
- ICC Plans Examiner certification.

Job Description
- Review residential, multifamily, commercial, and industrial construction plans for compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
- Evaluate architectural plans and supporting documentation for code compliance.
- Coordinate plan reviews with Planning, Fire, Public Works, Utilities, and other reviewing agencies.
- Respond to technical questions from architects, engineers, contractors, homeowners, and the public regarding code requirements and City policies.
- Assist inspectors with complex field conditions, unusual construction methods, and code interpretations.
- Prepare correction notices, maintain project records, and ensure timely permit processing.
- Support permit issuance by verifying plan approval, calculating applicable fees, and assisting at the public counter.
