Candidates with experience supervising excavation, grading, mass earthwork, underground utilities, and site development projects are strongly preferred.

What You'll Do
Lead Field Operations
- Provide overall on-site leadership and supervision for heavy civil construction projects from mobilization through project completion.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily construction activities to maximize productivity while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
- Direct grading, excavation, underground utility installation, mass earthwork, hauling, compaction, soil stabilization, and site development operations.
- Coordinate field crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, trucking, and deliveries to keep projects moving efficiently.
- Ensure work is performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, schedules, and company quality standards.
Manage Production & Performance
- Develop daily and weekly work plans to meet production goals and project milestones.
- Monitor labor productivity, equipment utilization, material usage, and production rates.
- Review labor hours, equipment costs, and field performance to support project budgets and profitability.
- Identify potential delays, conflicts, or field issues and implement proactive solutions before they impact production.
- Prepare and review production reports, material tracking, and daily field documentation.
Coordinate Project Execution
- Partner closely with Project Managers to coordinate schedules, resources, project priorities, and field operations.
- Communicate effectively with owners, engineers, inspectors, vendors, subcontractors, and customers.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, grade stakes, and project documents.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, company policies, OSHA regulations, and all applicable safety requirements.
Lead & Develop Teams
- Supervise operators, laborers, and field personnel while providing leadership, coaching, and accountability.
- Plan work assignments and monitor employee performance, attendance, and electronic timekeeping compliance.
- Participate in interviewing and recommending qualified job applicants.
- Foster a culture built on safety, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor employees and help develop the next generation of field leaders.
What We're Looking For
Required Experience & Skills
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 3 years of heavy civil construction experience, with previous superintendent or foreman experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of excavation, grading, mass earthwork, underground utilities, hauling, backfilling, compaction, and soil stabilization.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Software & Technical Skills
- Experience with construction management software such as HCSS HeavyJob, Procore, or similar field management platforms preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic timekeeping, production tracking, and daily reporting.
- Experience with GPS machine control systems (Trimble, Topcon, Leica, or similar) is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Superintendent experience leading heavy civil construction projects.
- Experience managing grading, excavation, site development, underground utility installation, and mass earthwork operations.
- Working knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and heavy equipment operations.
- Experience coordinating multiple crews, subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders.

Work Environment
This position regularly works outdoors in varying weather conditions and around heavy equipment and moving machinery. Employees may be exposed to dust, vibration, noise, fumes, and airborne particles commonly associated with heavy civil construction.
Physical Requirements
This position requires frequent standing, walking, climbing, squatting, bending, reaching, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, operating company vehicles, and working safely in active construction environments.
