Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a full-time Senior Engineer to lead our Dam and Levee Safety (DLS) practice in the South Central region and contribute to the exciting growth that is occurring in our Water Resources Group. The ideal candidate will have experience leading state and/or federally regulated dam projects for municipal clients throughout Texas, be an effective communicator and passionate about serving clients, and be capable of supervising and mentoring younger staff. The successful candidate will lead and manage projects and pursuits in the South Central region and across the U.S.

- Grow Hazen’s DLS presence in the region, develop existing and new clients in Texas
- Lead business development activities including preparation of proposals and presentations
- Provide a high level of client service and development
- Perform project engineering and management for a wide range of projects to include planning, design, permitting, and construction administration of structures for dams, levees, conveyance, and hydropower facilities
- Supervise and mentor a team of engineers
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams
- Prepare assessment and design reports
- Perform design calculations
- Oversee the preparation of construction documents
- Provide construction phase engineering services throughout construction/commissioning of projects
- Perform dam inspections and site visits from planning through construction
- Occasional travel may be required
- PE license
- 15 years of experience in the field of water related infrastructure (including project management)
- Experience in successfully delivering projects spanning multiple years in collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience in Dam and Levee Safety and/or hydropower
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and capable of interacting effectively with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies
- Self-starter with attention to detail
