Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a Water/Wastewater Project Engineer for our Tampa or Sarasota offices. As part of our design and process teams, you will be involved with a wide range of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This will encompass all phases of design, including conceptual/feasibility evaluations, project management, preparation of design reports, permitting, development of construction drawings and specifications, and support of construction services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and/or support planning, design, permitting, and construction of water and wastewater-related projects including pumping, piping, and treatment facilities. 
  • Coordination with internal technical specialists in all practice areas and discipline design professionals for project delivery.
  • Support coordination and collaboration with clients
  • Working with interdisciplinary teams to effectively meet the client’s needs 
  • Support preparation of proposals and presentations
  • Fieldwork and site visits from planning through construction may be required with occasional travel

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Environmental, Civil, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Florida PE license (ability to obtain reciprocity within six months of employment)
  • 7-14 years of experience in the field of wastewater-related infrastructure, including project engineering/management (planning, design, and construction)
  • Experience in successfully delivering supporting projects spanning multiple years in collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams 
  • Proficient in all MS Office based computer software 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and capable of interacting effectively with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies 
  • Self-starter with attention to detail 
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Must be capable of presenting complex issues to nontechnical people 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in Civil/Environmental Engineering
