2026 Summer School Early Childhood Speech Language Pathologist

Summer school support staff must be properly certified/licensed in the appropriate content area.

 

Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and Speech Language Pathologist will be paid the following amount: $50/hr.

 

Summer School sessions will begin as follows:

  

  • Wednesday, June 3rd– Thursday, June 25th
  • Students will either attend on Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday.
  • 8:30am – 11:00am

 

Summer employment is contingent upon enrollment.

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

To facilitate student achievement by helping students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women.

  

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES:

  1. Facilitate student achievement.

      Requirements and Responsibilities 

  1. Provide speech/language therapy services as determined by the IEP
  2. Consult with ECE teachers and parents regarding the students' progress
  3. Maintain attendance, ongoing evaluation, and progress records
  4. Follow all special education compliance regulations in accordance with DESE and state law.
  5. Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members (OT, PT, ECSE teachers)
  6. Must have Speech Language Pathologist certification in Missouri
  7. Ability to work with children with speech and language deficits both in the classroom and in an itinerant setting.
  8. Must be able to travel to various sites across the district
  9. Assess student progress and create developmentally appropriate goals
  10. Experience in writing an Individual Education Plan (IEP) preferred
  1. Monitors student achievement.

 

Examples of Work Performed:

  1. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  2. Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, with the assistance of district specialists.
  3. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  4. Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.

Examples of Work:

  1. Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  2. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  3. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  4. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher/building aides and volunteers and, cooperatively with administrator, evaluates their job performance by providing meaningful input.
  5. Maintains and continuously improves professional competence through regular attendance at PDC activities and other professional development opportunities support by the district.
  6. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Education - Master’s Degree from an institution accredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association accrediting body in Communication Disorders: Speech-Language Pathology.

Knowledge/Skills 

  • Proficient in preparing rigorous, interactive, exciting, and informative lesson plans
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point, Desktop Publisher and database management.
  • Able to work effectively with colleagues, parents, administrators, etc.
  • Superior interpersonal skills to facilitate an excellent educational experience for students in a high energy/stress environment.
  • Discretion and confidentiality with an awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education Policies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills needed.
  • Must be self-directed, highly motivated, and able to work independently.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and to lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required included close vision, distance vision, the ability to adjust and focus, and depth perception. Specific hearing abilities required include normal conversation, phone conversation, and isolating voices in multiple conversations.   

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT / CONDITIONS:

Works in a classroom environment a majority of the time and is required to work outdoors for a small portion of the day.  Must be able to travel to various sites across the district.
