About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer or Associate-level Mechanical Engineer to join a dynamic, mid-sized engineering firm specializing in building systems design. This is a key role for a seasoned professional who thrives in technical leadership, mentorship, and complex healthcare projects.
You will lead mechanical design efforts from concept through construction administration, mentor junior engineers, and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the mechanical department. This position offers significant growth potential, including progression toward ownership opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead mechanical engineering design for building systems across all project phases: Concept Design → Schematic Design → Construction Documents → Construction Administration
• Serve as a technical expert on healthcare projects, including hospital patient floors, procedure suites, and equipment suites.
• Ensure compliance with ASHRAE standards, mechanical codes, and certifications.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers (approx. 4 at a time) throughout the full design process.
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to identify and resolve design issues.
• Support infrastructure projects and contribute to strategic growth within the mechanical department.
Qualifications
• 11–15 years of mechanical engineering experience in building systems design.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required (strongly preferred; will consider candidates close to licensure).
• Proven experience in healthcare facility design and familiarity with hospital codes.
• Strong knowledge of ASHRAE standards and mechanical codes.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills with a passion for mentoring.
• Ability to manage projects independently and drive technical excellence.
