A leading general contractor is seeking an experienced MEP Superintendent to oversee all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection operations on a large-scale education project in Charlotte, NC. This role requires someone with strong tenure, a proven track record managing large‑scale MEP packages, and the ability to coordinate complex systems on fast‑paced projects.
Your new role
- MEP field oversight — Lead daily onsite supervision of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection trades
- Schedule coordination — Maintain and update MEP schedules, ensuring alignment with overall project milestones
- Quality control — Enforce installation standards, specifications, and code compliance
- Subcontractor management — Direct and coordinate all MEP subcontractors and vendors
- Safety enforcement — Ensure all MEP activities follow site safety protocols
- Problem resolution — Identify and resolve field conflicts, design discrepancies, and installation issues
- Progress reporting — Provide daily and weekly updates to project leadership
- System commissioning support — Assist with testing, startup, and turnover of all MEP systems
What you'll need to succeed
- MEP superintendent experience on large commercial or institutional projects
- Demonstrated success managing $30M MEP scopes
- Strong tenure with previous employers (stable work history)
- Deep understanding of HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing systems, and fire protection
- Ability to read and interpret complex MEP drawings and specifications
- Proficiency in coordinating with project managers, engineers, and field teams
- Strong communication and leadership skills
