Summary
Under general supervision, the Recycling and Solid Waste Site Technician for the County Recycling and Solid Waste Station provides services at the solid waste and recycling center for the benefit of citizens of Hays County. The work involves interacting with public, daily deposit calculations, bookkeeping, and maintaining the general appearance of the transfer station. This position facilitates the work of the County Recycling and Solid Waste Station and has an immediate impact on the operation of the solid waste and recycling center and the general public.
- Interacts with the public and private hauling contractors on matters related to solid waste disposal and recycling.
- Communicates with vendors and contractors for removal of solid waste and recyclables.
- Communicates with state and county agencies in reference to regulatory matters.
- Establishes a price and collects fee for the disposal of solid wastes.
- Answers customer questions and complaints
- Provides instructions for recyclables.
- Accounts for daily revenues and completes daily reports.
- Performs landscaping duties.
- Organizes the recyclables.
- Cleans the site including sweeping and washing down the surfaces, which come in contact with solid wastes.
- Schedules large boxes for drop off and pickup.
- Repairs and maintains existing equipment.
- Collects dumping fees.
- Assures the services delivered meet quality and timeliness standards.
- Communicates all changes and problems to supervisor.
- Maintains the general appearance of the transfer station.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Requires High School diploma or equivalent.
- Prefer one year of experience in a recycling plant or similar facility.
- Class “C” Driver’s License.
Salary : $41,265 - $42,503
