Heavy Diesel Technician

Job Summary

This position will be required to diagnose and repair all systems on a diesel truck/tractor and flatbed trailers including but not limited to: Engine, transmissions, front and rear axle, suspension, HVAC, electrical, air brakes, air systems, and 5th wheel systems. Must have a set of tools commonly used for heavy diesel repair ( sockets, wrenches, ratchets, impacts, drill, hand tools/pliers, etc.), toolbox, electrical diagnostic tools (volt meter/power probe).

Duties

• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on diesel tractors as indicated on work order or as discovered during your own inspection.
• Repair and adjust engines including CAT, Cummings, and Detroit.
• Perform Preventative Maintenance services on tractors and trailers (PM's), grease and visual inspections.
• Operate tractors with and without trailers. This will include driving the tractor in the shop or backing a trailer into the shop and returning them back to the yard when finished and tasks are completed.
• Keeping a clean work area, sweeping up dust and dirt, scraping up excess grease from completed tasks, throwing away trash and boxes, emptying the trash cans when full and tossing them into the dumpster, making sure all scrap metal parts are put in the scrap pile, and rolling bad tires to the tire stack.
• Being on Time
• Procure parts. This includes finding the parts located on the shelves in the shop or asking the Shop manager to find or order the part needed.
• Perform any other duties assigned by Supervisory personnel ( Shop Manager or Haynes Transport Manger Personnel).

Pay: $ $39.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week

Experience:

• Heavy Diesel Mechanic: 3 years (Required)
