Position Title: Community Pharmacist

Location: Milwaukee Metropolitan Area

Reports to: District Manager

Position Purpose

The Pharmacist position requires extensive expertise and knowledge of pharmacy operations, as the person in this role provides oversight for all aspects of pharmacy operations in a single location. The PIC complies with all applicable laws, regulations and standards; compounds and dispenses prescribed medications; supervises other pharmacists and pharmacy technicians; and performs related duties as required.

The company operates robust community-based pharmacies that offer award-winning services such as medication packaging, medication management, and free prescription delivery. Hayat Pharmacy focuses on providing opportunities for customers to achieve high quality health outcomes through access, education, and in-home consultation, and in building and maintaining strong relationships with community medical providers and other external stakeholders.

Position Responsibilities

1. Provide a full range of client services and assume overall responsibility for the daily operation of the store.

2. Fill prescriptions by interpreting written prescriptions from prescribing physicians, checking for interactions and allergies, determining formulas as needed, and providing prescription information to Pharmacy Technicians for filling. Assure that prescriptions are filled accurately.

3. Consult with prescribing physicians when clarification is required, and advises physicians on formulary medications and cost-effective alternatives.

4. Counsel customers/clients in person and over the phone on how and for how long the medication(s) should be taken. Answer questions the customer/client may have regarding the medication(s).

5. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all prescription transactions needed to ensure control over and accountability for all drugs as required by federal and state laws, regulations, and rules.

6. Provide supervision to other professional and paraprofessional staff, such as pharmacists and technicians respectively, including training, assigning duties, and preparing annual performance evaluations.

7. Ensure accurate billing occurs in compliance with regulations and established protocols.

8. Pharmacy Managers are responsible for overall function of pharmacy, staff attendance, performance and customer service.

9. Prepare activity reports as directed by departmental protocol or by the Regional Pharmacy Manager. Ensure all company’s internal communications are received, understood and followed by pharmacy staff.

10. Maintain regular communication with the Regional Pharmacy Manager regarding all aspects of the operation and report issues that require senior management attention.

11. Perform the duties of the Staff Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician as needed. Assumes Operation Managers roles and responsibilities if Operation Manager position is vacant or non-applicable to particular pharmacies.

12. Responsible for vaccines/injectable administration.

13. Assist in resolving issues when they arise, such as claim billing issues or developing interpersonal problems among staff.

14. Review inventory counts and verify correct order is received. Provide direction with maintaining adequate supplies of medications and with removal of expired medications.

15. Comply with all security and loss prevention procedures, and ensure a safe and clean environment.

16. Enforce all company’s standard rules and procedures including but not limited to pharmacy’s opening and closing procedures.

17. Maintain established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs. Comply with all quality standards by following set process, policies and privacy regulations.

18. Mentor pharmacy students and look for ways to provide a learning environment.

19. Any and all other duties as assigned by the Regional Pharmacy Manager.


Required Qualifications and Competencies

1. Bachelor’s (BA/BS) degree or Pharm.D degree from an accredited pharmacy college or university.

2. 5 to 7 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

3. Valid license in good standing to practice pharmacy in Wisconsin and a federal DEA number allowing for the dispensing of medications. Practice in accordance with limitations set by states if applicable. Maintain certification for vaccines administration.

4. Thorough understanding of pharmacology, including dosage administration and measurement, chemical compounds, and pharmaceutical brands.

5. Proven evidence of proficiency in critical thinking, analysis and problem solving, and technical expertise as it applies to a pharmacy environment.

6. Demonstrable ability to manage others and to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with established policies.

7. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

8. Ability to work in a fast-paced setting and maintain productivity standards.

9. Strong level of dependability and customer-focused attitude.

10.Proficiency in MS Office and Pharmacy Information systems and the ability to learn software programs.

11.Physically able to stand for an extended period of time, bend, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Salary : $120,000 - $150,000
