POSITION TITLE: Aide - PLTW Classroom
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
LOCATION: Hawthorne
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma required
- Valid substitute teaching certificate required

PURPOSE STATEMENT
The PLTW Classroom Aide is responsible for facilitating Project Lead The Way (PLTW) curriculum and managing the day-to-day operations of the classroom. This position leads students through hands-on, project-based STEM learning experiences while maintaining a structured and supportive learning environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Classroom Facilitation and Instructional Support
- Facilitate PLTW curriculum by guiding students through lessons, projects, and activities aligned with program expectations.
- Provide direction and support to students as they engage in hands-on, problem-solving, and collaborative learning experiences.
- Monitor student progress and provide assistance, clarification, and encouragement as needed.
- Maintain a structured, safe, and positive classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Follow lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the district or program.
- Utilize technology and classroom equipment to support student learning and project completion.
Classroom Management and Program Support
- Supervise students at all times and ensure adherence to classroom expectations and school policies.
- Manage classroom materials, supplies, and equipment used in STEM projects and activities.
- Prepare materials and set up classroom activities as needed.
- Support implementation of PLTW program requirements and maintain consistency in instructional delivery.
- Encourage student engagement, teamwork, and participation in STEM-related activities.
Student Support and Communication
- Respond to student questions and provide guidance to support understanding of concepts and completion of assignments.
- Communicate student needs or concerns to the building principal or assigned staff as appropriate.
- Foster a respectful and inclusive classroom environment for all students.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
- Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
- Attend meetings as assigned.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate and appropriate classroom records as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Building Principal
