- JOB TITLE:
Medical Lab Technologist
- RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Nursing
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs venipuncture using appropriate technique following provider orders.
- Ensures all laboratory specimens are transported to the laboratory for processing.
- Conducts chemical analysis of body fluids, including blood and urine, to determine presence of normal and abnormal components.
- Performs analysis of laboratory findings to check the accuracy of the results.
- Enters data from analysis of medical tests and clinical results into computer system/patient records for storage and provider review.
- Operates, calibrates, and maintains equipment used in laboratory testing.
- Maintains and monitors quality assurance programs and activities to ensure the accuracy of laboratory results.
- Sets up, cleans, and maintains laboratory equipment.
- Provides technical information about test results to providers and patients.
- Supervises, trains, and directs other medical assistants engaged in laboratory testing.
- Responsible for biohazardous waste storage in conjunction with OSHA compliance.
- Performs allergy injections, immunizations, and any other injections as scheduled on nurse visit schedule.
- Performs pulmonary function tests, audiograms/tympanograms, ABIs, UBTs, and EKGs as ordered and scheduled on nurse visit schedule.
- Functions as treatment nurse if needed.
- Assists with emergency situations and treatment as indicated.
- Performs Medical Assistant/Nursing duties as needed.
- Performs any other tasks as deemed necessary by supervisor.
