Position Overview
Application Deadline: June 7, 2026.
Job Title: I-Smile @ School Dental Hygienist.
Position Type: Part-Time, 24 hours per week.
Schedule: Monday - Friday (three days per week; workdays each week may vary).
Pay Range: $34.35 - $35.39 hourly depending upon education and experience.
Position Goal
The I-Smile @ School Dental Hygienist is responsible for providing dental screenings, oral health instruction/education, carrying preventative treatments, radiographs, dental referrals, and care coordination as part of the I-Smile @ School Sealant Program under the general supervision of the public health supervising dentist.

Education and/or Experience
- Associate's degree in dental hygiene from an accredited dental hygiene program.
- Licensed as a Registered Dental Hygienist in the State of Iowa.
- One year of dental hygiene clinical experience in private practice, schools, hospitals, or community/public health settings.
- Ability to obtain a Public Health Supervision Agreement.
- Three years of dental hygiene clinical experience in private practice, schools, hospitals, or community/public health settings.
- Experience with pediatric population.
- Computer literacy with Microsoft products preferred.
- Receive clearance by the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services on child abuse and criminal record checks upon employment and resubmit/receive clearance every two (2) years.
- Complete Child Abuse Reporter training upon employment and update every three (3) years.
- Complete Bloodborne pathogen training within ten (10) days of employment and update every year.
- Current CPR certification.
- Valid Driver's License & Car Insurance.
- Reliable transportation for on-the-job use.
- Maintain required continuing education hours to retain state licensure.
