JOB OVERVIEW:
The Safety Manager's primary goal is to ensure a safe and healthy work environment in accordance with applicable legal standards and HDCC-Guam policies. As a member of the HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) Department, you will also be involved in the oversight of environmental compliance by project teams.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- STS-C plus a minimum of 6 years of health and safety or environmental experience in the construction industry.
- CHST or OHST with a minimum of 5 years of health and safety or environmental experience in construction industry, or
- BCSP recognized associate or bachelor’s degree in safety, health, or environmental studies (i.e., OESM, Occupational Safety and Health) plus minimum 4 years of health and safety or environmental experience in construction industry, or
- ASP/CSP with a minimum of 4 years of health and safety or environmental experience in the construction industry.
- Higher level of fitness due to nature of work, locations where work is being performed, and accessing these locations
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local HSE regulations, standards and/or laws.
- Available to travel and work extended hours, nights, and weekends.
- Proficient with mobile platforms (Android, IOS, etc.) and MS Office Applications
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
- Organized and able to prioritize tasks
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
KEY FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform various administrative duties related to HSE (recordkeeping, filing, site safety orientations, weekly toolbox meetings, etc.)
- Conduct documented HSE inspections in accordance with policies, standards, regulations, and laws
- Continuous monitoring of jobsite to ensure hazard free work environment
- Ensure proper close out of identified hazards or HSE issues
- Ensure consistent implementation of HDCC’s HSE policies and processes
- Serve as primary contact for project incident notification and investigation
- Provide project team(s) with guidance and training on HSE related issues
- Assist project management in developing site-specific HSE programs (i.e., confined space, critical lift, etc.)
- Maintain appropriate certifications and credentials
- Other duties as assigned
