JOB PURPOSE
Video-EEG (VEEG) monitoring is a procedure done during an inpatient clinic stay using continuous recording of EEG and video. The goal is to record usual events and determine if they are epileptic seizures or some other condition. For epileptic seizures, the VEEG can help determine the type of seizure and may pinpoint the area in the brain where they begin. The patient will be admitted into a private room that has a digital camera mounted in the ceiling for monitoring. The caregiver and technician will monitor the activity of the study for the duration of the patients stay.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Monitor patients and ensuring supervision of VEEG patients at all times
- Assisting patients with basic personal care, and move and walk around while hooked up
- Monitoring patients’ vital signs
- Basic food preparation and ordering
- Recording and communicating any VEEG patient events to technicians
- VEEG lead maintenance
- Removal of VEEG Lead
- Linen and laundry management
- VEEG recording clipping and filing
- EEG report downloads, filing and faxing
- Ensure patients have a follow up appointment
- Support to technician for supply procedural preparation
- Assist with Diagnostics department inventory
- Basic housekeeping; ensure and maintain cleanliness and turnover of each VEEG room
- Daily trash removal in VEEG rooms o Sanitizing and organizing kitchen o Sweep and sanitize VEEG rooms weekly
- Bedding and linen turnover
- Communicate to TC of any department needs
- VEEG Satisfaction surveys – downloading and transferring data
- And, all duties assigned by Team Captain
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Must be technology and computer savvy
- Working independently and under supervision
- Problem solving skills
- Must be compassionate and patient
- Must demonstrate good work ethics
- Knowledge of 10-20 International electrode placement system is a plus Some experience in medical field helpful
- Must be able to work effectively with patients, families, and physician and other health team members effectively
- Strong organizational skills
- Must be flexible and a good communicator
