The East Hawaii Region of Hawaii Health Systems Corporation is expanding its physician and provider recruitment program to enhance healthcare for our friends, family, neighbors and colleagues across the East Hawaii community. The Senior Provider Recruiter is responsible for sourcing physician and advanced practice provider (mid-level practitioner) candidates, developing relationships, analyzing data and report trends on provider availability with the recruitment process, and establishing and managing contract agreements with new providers and third-party sourcing and search firms. The Senior Provider Recruiter must be flexible in recruiting from various positions within the healthcare recruitment landscape, including difficult to fill specialty roles, including cardiology, gastroenterology and hematology oncology. The position will report to the Assistant Director of Human Resources for the East Hawaii Region and will work closely with physician leaders from Hilo Benioff Medical Center and East Hawaii Medical Group.
Location: This position is hybrid, with a requirement for the incumbent to work on-site in Hilo, Hawaii at regular intervals throughout the year. It is anticipated that the incumbent will visit for the first two weeks of employment and approximately one week per quarter thereafter. Airfare and lodging will be paid for by the organization, in accordance with our policies.
Essential Job Functions:
- Identifies potential candidates for recruitment using a variety of sourcing methodologies. Manages database of prospective provider candidates for recruitment using a variety of sourcing methodologies. Sourcing methods may include, but not limited to sourcing agencies, search firms, candidates who have personal/educational ties to the organization, clinical rotation programs (with a focus on specialty programs), HRSA, among others.
- Develops and implements sourcing strategies to achieve EHMG objectives, including the development of marketing tools, such as websites, media advertisements, email campaigns and promotional videos.
- Oversees all arrangements necessary in reviewing and/or screening potential candidates to determine which satisfy requirements for available positions. This will include provision of necessary information to each candidate as to the practice opportunity, community, etc. and obtaining the necessary references and completing the required employment verification steps.
- Oversees the coordination of all necessary arrangements for a provider site visit to the campus and/or clinic.
- Establishes and maintains a system for measuring the progress of recruitment efforts against overall plans and will report results on a regular basis to each site within the system, the provider practice group and the local community involved in the recruitment program.
- Works collaboratively with the recruitment team on Island to develop sourcing strategies and plans of action per search.
- Establishes a system for ongoing communication with new providers for at least the first six (6) months of their practice to monitor their satisfaction levels and assuring smooth transition to the Medical Staff Office function.
- Reviews all bills and invoices for recruitment expenses for approval by the Supervisor and submits in a timely fashion.
- Utilizes various platforms and data sources to analyze, predict and propose solutions to address staffing shortages.

- Must have the ability to travel up to 50 percent of the time within the U.S.
Experience: Five (5) years of minimum experience of recruiting or sourcing experience, with at least two (2) years of experience focused on provider recruitment.
Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Psychology, Human Resources, Healthcare, Biology or other related field is strongly preferred.
- Excess work experience in provider recruitment may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
- A master’s degree in business, psychology, human resources, healthcare administration, biology or other related field may be substituted for one (1) year of minimum experience
License: Valid Driver’s License
Salary : $100,000 - $105,000
