Position Summary

The Leadership Annual Giving Officer plays a critical role in advancing Hawaiʻi Foodbank’s mission to nourish our ʻOhana today and work to end hunger tomorrow. This position is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of leadership annual giving donors and prospects, increasing philanthropic support, strengthening donor engagement, and building a sustainable pipeline of future major gift donors.

The ideal candidate is a results-oriented, highly professional, and relationship-driven fundraiser who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-centered environment. This role requires strong communication skills, strategic relationship management, and a passion for community impact. The Leadership Annual Giving Officer works closely with the Director of Annual & Leadership Giving, Annual Giving Coordinator, Major Gift Officer, Director of Donor Engagement, Director of Development Operations, donors, volunteers, and community partners to strengthen donor relationships, increase philanthropic investment, and advance Hawaiʻi Foodbank’s mission throughout the state.

This position is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of donors capable of making annual gifts of $5,000 to $25,000, with opportunities to cultivate and secure gifts up to $25,000. The position carries an annual fundraising goal and serves as a critical bridge between annual giving and major giving.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Donor Portfolio Management

• Manage and grow a portfolio of approximately 125–175 leadership annual giving donors and prospects.
• Develop and execute individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies designed to strengthen donor relationships and increase philanthropic support.
• Conduct regular donor outreach through meetings, phone calls, written communications, and engagement opportunities.
• Identify, qualify, and cultivate new leadership annual giving prospects through donor analytics, referrals, events, and community connections.
• Maintain accurate and timely donor records and portfolio activity within Raiser's Edge NXT.

Fundraising & Solicitation

• Achieve an annual fundraising goal through a portfolio of leadership annual giving donors.
• Build and manage a pipeline of donors transitioning from annual giving to major gifts.
• Identify and execute strategies to upgrade donor giving levels year over year.
• Meet established annual performance metrics related to donor contacts, visits, solicitations, donor retention, donor upgrades, and total revenue generation.
• Partner with Major Gift Officer to transition donors to higher levels of giving when appropriate.

Donor Engagement & Stewardship

• Create meaningful donor experiences that reflect Hawaiʻi Foodbank’s mission and community impact.
• Coordinate donor visits, tours, events, volunteer experiences, and program engagement opportunities.
• Ensure timely and thoughtful stewardship through donor recognition, impact reporting, and personalized outreach.
• Communicate organizational impact using strength-based, dignity-centered storytelling.

Pipeline Development & Strategy

• Track and analyze portfolio performance, including donor retention, upgrades, pipeline movement, and fundraising outcomes.
• Utilize Raiser's Edge NXT to support portfolio management, forecasting, donor strategy development, and fundraising performance.
• Identify donors with increased philanthropic capacity and partner with the Major Gift Officer to facilitate strategic donor transitions.

Team Collaboration & Mission Support

• Collaborate with the Director of Annual & Leadership Giving to support donor progression strategies, portfolio growth, and fundraising goals.
• Collaborate with Major Gifts Officers to develop donor progression across the giving continuum.
• Partner with the Director of Donor Engagement to ensure leadership annual giving donors receive meaningful stewardship, recognition, and engagement opportunities.
• Work closely with the Director of Development Operations to ensure accurate donor records, portfolio management, reporting, fundraising analytics, and data integrity.
• Support volunteer, board, and donor engagement activities that strengthen donor relationships and fundraising outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3–5 years of fundraising, sales, business development, donor engagement, relationship management, or comparable revenue-generating experience.
• Proven ability to solicit and close gifts, sales, or comparable financial commitments.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Experience with donor databases, Raiser's Edge NXT, or comparable CRM systems preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment to high-quality customer service, professionalism, and mission-driven work.

Description of Tasks

Most tasks are covered within the essential duties and responsibilities outlined above.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages. Ability to apply all concepts of bookkeeping and all generally accepted accounting procedures.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Equipment, Machines, Tool, Vehicles Used:

• Ability to use a computer workstation including keyboard, mouse, printer, fax and multi-line phone systems to execute tasks.
• Computer literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft office is required with emphasis on proficiency in Word and Excel.
• Computer literacy with experience working with a database system.
• Valid driver’s license and access to insured personal vehicle.

Work Environment:

• Hybrid, working 4 days in office and 1 day remote after 90 days.
• Requires driving for off-site days, evening and weekend meetings and fundraisers and marketing events, as needed or assigned.
• Requires the use of computers, mobile, telephonic equipment, etc.
• The noise level ranges from quiet to moderate to loud at times.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
