This is a rare moment to join a team being built — not filled.

At Hawai'i Foodbank, we are making a deliberate, multi-year investment in expanding our commitment to Philanthropy, by building a team with the capacity to match the scale of our mission. The positions you see here are not the result of turnover — they are the result of intention. We are building new structure, new discipline, and new capacity to deepen our relationships with donors and unlock the potential that fuels our mission: nourishing our ‘Ohana today, while we work to end hunger tomorrow.

If you are a development professional who wants to be part of building something, not just maintaining it, this is that opportunity.

OPEN POSITION:
ANNUAL GIVING COORDINATOR | Every campaign you coordinate deepens a connection. As our Annual Giving Coordinator, you'll bring our appeals, monthly giving program, and donor outreach to life — turning great ideas into consistent, well-run donor engagement.

Department: Development
Reports to: Director of Leadership & Annual Giving

POSITION SUMMARY
The Annual Giving Coordinator supports the planning, execution, and evaluation of Hawaii Foodbank’s annual giving initiatives, including direct mail, digital campaigns, the Monthly Giving Program, stewardship communications, and donor engagement strategies. This role works closely with the Director of Leadership & Annual Giving and colleagues across departments to grow revenue, improve donor experiences, and strengthen community connection through timely, targeted outreach. This is a dynamic, people-centered position that requires strong project coordination, excellent communication skills, and a passion for relationship-building. It's ideal for someone with a background in fundraising, customer engagement, marketing, or public outreach who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLIITIES include the following:

  • Coordinate and implement annual fundraising, marketing, and engagement campaigns, including direct mail, email, and seasonal appeals.
  • Manage the Monthly Giving Program, including donor onboarding, retention, upgrades, payment processing, and ongoing recognition.
  • Partner with the Development, Marketing, and Communications teams to support all donor-facing aspects of the Monthly Giving Program and broader annual giving campaigns.
  • Draft and synthesize messaging for appeals and donor outreach, collaborating with internal content and communications teams.
  • Create and maintain production calendars, track milestones, and coordinate deliverables with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Conduct list pulls and segmentation for appeals; ensure data accuracy in partnership with the database team.
  • Provide donor stewardship and administrative support through thank-you communications, impact reporting, and prompt response to inquiries.
  • Monitor and analyze donor trends, fulfillment rates, and campaign performance; contribute ideas to improve engagement and retention.
  • Assist with donor surveys, Monthly Giving Program promotions, and onboarding series for new donors.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Represent Hawaii Foodbank at donor-facing and community engagement activities.
  • Stay informed on trends in donor engagement, annual giving, and customer experience; recommend and test new strategies to improve outreach and retention.
  • Provide support to other Development initiatives and cross-functional projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience supporting or managing a Monthly Giving Program or recurring donor program is a plus.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills across email, print, and digital platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal and tech skills; able to work cross-functionally and manage responsibilities independently in a hybrid environment.
  • Understanding of donor-centered or customer-centric communications and fundraising strategies.
  • Resourceful, highly engaging, innovative, collaborative thinker; results-focused, dynamic communicator with a love for mission-driven work.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in fundraising, customer engagement, marketing, or nonprofit administration.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience—fundraising or customer relationship-building roles preferred.

COMMUNICATION DEMANDS

  • Frequent communication with donors, internal departments, vendors, and external partners.
  • Ability to share results, recommendations, and insights with team members and leadership.
  • May provide occasional training or support to staff or volunteers involved in campaigns.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Office-based role with flexibility for hybrid or remote work as needed.
  • Core work hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to align with donor engagement windows; some evening/weekend availability may be required during peak campaign periods or events.
  • Standard office noise and equipment usage.
