Salary:                    $2,800.00           

Statement of Duties:   

• Promotes by example loyalty, leadership, dedication, integrity, physical fitness, sportsmanship, cooperation and personal responsibility.
• Focuses on building a strong culture aligned with core values for a Division 1 Baseball program in the highly competitive Merrimack Valley Conference.
• Implements codes of conduct for coaches, players, and parents of the HHS Baseball team.
• Ability to work the expected hours to include arriving prior to the student athlete arrival and departure times.
• Maintains a thorough knowledge of game and competition rules and has the ability to educate all coaches and student-athletes to share in that understanding, including the rules of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA).
• Develops appropriate training programs and practices.
• Ensures the proper cleaning, storage and maintenance of all athletic equipment and uniforms are adhered to in conjunction with the Athletic Director.
• Travels with student-athletes on the team bus both to and from games.
• Demonstrates knowledge of strategies and rules of baseball.
• Works with the Head Coach and Athletic Trainer(s) and completes injury reports for any student injured within 24 hours even if the athlete does not see a physician.
• Works with the Athletic Department staff to ensure the proper forms including physical, attendance, parent consent and medical information is collected prior to the start of the season.
• Enforces the policies and procedures of the Haverhill School Committee and the Haverhill High School Student Handbook.
• Supervises appropriate behavior of students from arrival to departure, both on and off the field, including the locker room, buses, practices, and at home and away games.
• Maintains a safe environment and facilities for all student athletes at all times.
• Attends the annual HHS all Coaches meeting.
• Reviews the HHS Coaches Handbook annually.
• Reviews and signs the Massachusetts Anti-Hazing Law Form annually.
• Demonstrates commitment to protect student athletes from inappropriate conduct.
• Proven ability to enforce all rules in all sport-related activities and venues.
• Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects and procedures pertinent to baseball including rules of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA).
• Proven ability to work in a professional and friendly manner with various contingencies; i.e. students, teachers, parents, administrators, boosters, media, officials and the school community and public.
• Reports to the Head Coach, Athletic Director and Haverhill High School Principal any disciplinary issues immediately.
• Performs other duties as requested by the Athletic Director, Principal and the Superintendent of Schools and/or his/her designee.

Qualifications:                        

• Proven ability to advocate the importance of education and school community.
• Successful previous experience as a baseball player or coach.
• Baseball coaching experience - preferred
• Valid Driver’s License - required
• First Aid/CPR - required
• MIAA Coaches Certification - preferred
