About Opportunity

Havens Group is recruiting for a confidential, fast-growing Kansas City real estate developer that’s winning deals and building the kind of projects you want on your resume. If you’re 4–7 years into your accounting career and ready for a role where the numbers matter — driving deals, shaping property performance, and giving you a real voice — this Accounting Manager opportunity is the move. You’ll lead a small team, own the close, work directly with decision-makers, and see the financial impact of your work every day. Great pay, strong benefits, no-ego culture, and real visibility. This is where sharp accountants go to level up and fast-track their career in real estate.

What You’ll Do

Accounting Leadership & Operations

  • Lead day-to-day accounting operations for a portfolio of real estate assets.
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff; set clear expectations and ensure accuracy across all workstreams.
  • Oversee AP, AR, bank reconciliations, and credit card processing in partnership with specialists.

Financial Reporting & Close

  • Own the monthly close — produce complete, accurate, and timely financial statements.
  • Review property financials proactively to flag unusual activity, missing information, or out-of-norm expenses.
  • Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly.
  • Manage year-end reporting, including support for auditors and tax teams.

Cash Flow, Debt, and Property Performance

  • Monitor cash flow across communities and corporate entities, record and report accordingly.
  • Ensure timely debt payments and compliance with lender requirements.
  • Record, review, and invoice management fees.
  • Communicate financial results with external asset managers as needed.

Budgets, Forecasts & Process Improvement

  • Assist with annual community budgets and forecasting processes.
  • Drive improvements in reporting accuracy, timelines, and system efficiency.
  • Support standardization and optimization of accounting workflows as the company scales.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business field.
  • 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Real estate or property management experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong understanding of property-level reporting is ideal, plus budgeting, variance analysis, and cash flow.
  • Experience with Yardi, MRI, Entrata, RealPage, or similar systems is a plus.
  • Proven ability to manage staff, oversee monthly closing, and create structure in a growing environment.
  • Solid GAAP knowledge; familiarity with CAM reconciliations, capital expenditures, and cost allocations.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Clean, professional communication skills — able to work with lenders, auditors, and internal partners.

Who Thrives Here

This opportunity is built for someone who:

  • Brings accuracy, high standards, and a sense of ownership to their work.
  • Is driven, positive, and ready to lead a team.
  • Like real accountability — your work is seen, relied upon, and valued.
  • Wants to be close to the action as deals are evaluated, built, stabilized, and operated.
  • Enjoys a no-ego, roll-up-your-sleeves culture.

  • Annual bonus program
  • Strong benefits package (health, dental, vision, 401k, PTO)
