Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for an Associate General Counsel located in Gilbert, AZ. The Associate General Counsel will be responsible for overseeing legal issues, managing and overseeing the company's litigation matters, providing legal advice, managing labor and employment law matters, addressing data privacy concerns, and ensuring compliance with corporate governance standards. Daily tasks will include drafting and reviewing legal documents, advising management on legal issues, and representing the organization in legal proceedings.
Qualifications
- Expertise in Legal Issues and providing Legal Advice
- Experience in Labor and Employment Law
- Knowledge of Data Privacy regulations
- Understanding of Corporate Governance principles
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work on-site in Gilbert, AZ
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to the State Bar of Arizona
- Experience in healthcare or long-term care industry is a plus
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Active membership in good standing with the Arizona State Bar
Experience
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in litigation, preferably in an in-house corporate environment or at a law firm specializing in business disputes
- Experience in managing all phases of litigation, from initial case assessment through trial and appeal
- Strong understanding of Arizona and federal court rules, civil procedure, and litigation processes
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex legal matters clearly.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
Desirable Skills
- Experience in medical malpractice defense, skilled nursing/APSA litigation preferred
- Familiarity with alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods, including mediation and arbitration
