What are the responsibilities and job description for the DONATION SPECIALIST position at HAVEN FOR HOPE OF BEXAR COUNTY?
THE WORK SCHEDULE FOR THIS POSITION IS:
Tuesday - Friday 8AM - 5PM & Saturday 9AM - 5PM
SUMMARY
The Donation Center specialist physically moves, organizes, distributes goods for processing and shipping, distributes items as per the voucher system to clients as needed, ensures proper completion of required documentation, and ensures the proper storage and accountability for the Donation Center inventory. The Donation Specialist will also assist as necessary with the operation of the delivery of those we serve.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists with the receiving, handling, and storage of deliveries and donations to the Donation Center and proper completion of required documentation.
- Load, unload and move materials using hand truck to and from pallets, racks or shelves to maintain workflow of production cycle and to distribute donated goods.
- Assist clients with filling their vouchers with donated and/or purchased items and the completion of the required documentation.
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting, assisting, and responding to questions and/or concerns in a positive, professional, and friendly manner.
- Works as material handler or delivery truck driver when required.
- Maintain regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Keep work area clean by sweeping, emptying trash cans and disposing of trash in appropriate containers. Maintain good housekeeping standards.
- All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
- Required Minimum Education-High School Diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE
- Six months to 1 year minimum experience working successfully in a fast-paced, physical, outdoor, service-oriented warehouse environment.
- Good verbal communication skills with ability to effectively work as a team to achieve mission goals.
KNOWLDEGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

- Comprehensive knowledge of grounds keeping, landscaping arbor culture
- Skill in effectively event planning and organizing volunteer service projects
- Bi-lingual preferred
- Ability to promote efficiency, teamwork and interaction with staff members.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. frequently; climbs ladders (unassisted up to 8 feet and higher with assistance).
- Valid drivers' license and insurable driving record
- Ability to lift, assemble, and quality control inspect furniture to prepare deliveries and shipments
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License, a good driving record, reliable transportation and proper insurance coverage on automobile used for work. Monthly reimbursement for applicable and documented work related expenditures is provided. Travel within the city and its surrounding areas will be required (if applicable).
