Custodian & Maintenance Technician

WORK SCHEDULE FOR THE CUSTODIAN & MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN ROLE WILL BE WEDNESDAY-SUNDAY FROM 3PM-11PM 

SUMMARY.

The Custodian/Maintenance Technician is responsible for a wide range of maintenance, repairs, and general cleaning of the Haven for Hope Campus.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

• Performs routine maintenance around the Campus such as fixing structural damage, such as windows, doors, or wall repair.
• Moves or relocates equipment as directed.
• Repairs broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixture, repairing doors on washers/dryers.
• Applies preventative measures on Campus to reduce the risk of future problems.
• Fixes potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
• Paints the areas on Campus when old paint has become faded or chipped.,
• Responsible for changing light fixtures and ceiling tiles.
• Clean, dust and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; refill restroom dispensers
• Assist with setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
• Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum, and shampoo carpets.
• Attend to emergencies when necessary, i.e., spills, etc.
• Maintains the work area free of trash or hazardous conditions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION.

• High School Graduate or GED

EXPERIENCE.

• 2 years custodial experience 2 years general maintenance experience.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES.

• Thorough knowledge of custodial equipment practices, procedures, chemicals and solvents, safety practices
• Knowledge of safety, OSHA regulations
• Skill in stripping and waxing and polishing floors.
• Skill in cleaning methods and procedures, sanitation, safety, security and building maintenance.
• Proficient in attention to detail, follow directions.
• Ability to understand and follow safety directions/instructions to perform job duties.
• Ability to maintain custodial supplies and inventory to ensure adequate service levels.
• Ability to promote efficiency, teamwork and interaction with staff and partners.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS.

Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License, a good driving record, reliable transportation and proper insurance coverage on automobile used for work. Monthly reimbursement for applicable and documented work-related expenditures is provided. Travel within the city and its surrounding areas will be required (if applicable).

• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. frequently; climbs ladders (unassisted up to (8) feet and higher with assistance.
• Works in high places, cramped quarters and under buildings and inclement weather (hot, cold, dry, and damp). Walks, stands, kneels, stoops, bends, and squats for prolonged periods.
• May be exposed to mechanical and electrical hazards, dust and fumes.
• Shift work may be required and must be able to respond to after-hour emergencies.
